Bonnie Mincu Background
I'm Bonnie Mincu, a personal and business coach specializing in working with ADD - AD/HD adults. I came to specialize in this area after being diagnosed with Attention Deficit Disorder myself in my mid-40's. Like many people, I did not fit the commonly known stereotype of hyperactive AD/HD, and had gone most of my life without being diagnosed. I had been a successful corporate manager, and didn't run into difficulties until I left the structure of corporate consulting to open Mincu & Associates, my own coaching/consulting/training practice.
Finding that I was increasingly attracting individual clients with ADD-like traits, I decided to learn how to best coach people with ADD. My intensive training through ADD Coach Academy was invaluable in helping me identify the many ways ADD shows up in adults, teach clients how to observe and understand their tendencies in an ADD context, and create customized strategies for coaching each different situation.
How "Thrive with ADDSM" Developed
My program of coaching and training services, called "Thrive with ADD," started out in 2001 as a telephone class. My goal was to design a vibrant, interactive course around helping ADD adults learn how to best work with their own unique traits. "Thrive with ADD" is now a complete brand with an intensive workshop, email newsletter, audiotape / CD, illustrated products, and will include a series of mini e-booklets on specific ADD-related topics. More "Thrive with ADD" resources are being added every month.
"Ask the Coach" Column
In 2002, I was asked to be the "Ask the Coach" columnist for The AD/HD Challenge. This hard-copy journal, founded in 1987, was one of the very first newsletters on Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) to be distributed throughout the U.S. The ADHD Challenge continues to report on crucial research advancements from many of the leading experts in the field.
Prior to ADD Coaching
I've always felt the many types of work roles and industries I've experienced have contributed to my ability to create solutions that draw on a number of disciplines.
After a few years as an ad agency copywriter, I started a corporate career in marketing management and communications. My years in that arena spanned many different experiences, including brand management, ad agency creative and account management, direct mail advertising franchise ownership and sales promotion. I've worked and consulted in a wide variety of industries, primarily in Fortune 500 companies.
I made a complete career switch into Organization Development (OD), coaching and training in 1991. Before forming Mincu & Associates in 1999, I managed OD and Training & Development for First Chicago and was a Change Management consultant and executive coach with the consulting arm of Ernst & Young LLP.

Passion for Painting
I began to paint as a hobby in my 40's, never realizing it would become a very important part of my life! I believe my ADD traits of creativity and the tendency to hyper-focus on new interests have allowed me to expand my life into an arena that gives me of immense satisfaction. I am now represented by art galleries in New Hope, PA and Carmel, CA. (My art website is www.mincu-studio.com.)
When people ask how I can do so much at a time, I thank my ADD!
